This interlocking pattern, (above) of positive and negative elements is typical of Pre-Colombian Art and design. It has both the stepped line and spiral and the added element of "dots".This pattern was created by artist Scot Borofsky, using his knowledge of the principles of design in Ancient America. As a further visual treat, diagonal stripes of different colors were added cutting through the horizontal design.
