Above is a photograph of a Haida Lodge decorated with a Whale motif. This design was specifically inspirational to the artist, who looked at many Haida designs, while creating the Whale on the corner of the Cultural Intrigue Building. This Lodge is no longer in existance.
The Haida, of the North-West coast of the United States has an extremely original aesthetic culture, only comparable, in style, to the art of the Maya, and perhaps the very ancient Chinese.
The use of "faces within faces" is original to the artistic expressions of the Haida Culture.
